The Curated Story

This residence is a celebration of family, memory, and thoughtful design. What began as a modest renovation to introduce an elevator evolved into a full-scale transformation, expanding the home by two additional floors. Designed for a warm, close knit family spanning three generations (and their beloved dog), the project was as much about the journey as the outcome. From furniture hunts that turned into picnic like outings to collaborative decision making, every step reflected the family’s spirit.
A key design principle was to honour the past while embracing the new. Existing teakwood windows and doors were carefully refurbished and reintegrated, preserving the home’s character while reducing waste. The design also revolved around the family’s cherished collection of art and accessories, allowing these pieces to take center stage throughout the home.
The entrance foyer sets a striking tone with a handcrafted wooden boat adorned with brass flowers, dramatically lit beneath a cluster of decorative lights and anchored by a captivating painting. The formal and informal living spaces unfold with a refined palette of muted tones, wicker textures, and metal accents, providing a sophisticated backdrop for an impressive art collection. A thoughtfully placed mandir between the drawing rooms creates a serene focal point, enhanced by natural light and a sculptural metal tree element that visually connects to the outdoors.
On the right, the dining and casual living areas introduce subtle blue accents, echoed in a statement marble dining table and curated décor. The kitchen is spacious and highly functional, complemented by utility and storage areas that reflect meticulous planning.
Upper floors continue this narrative of layered living—featuring private bedrooms, family lounges, a music room opening to a landscaped lawn, and well-appointed study and leisure spaces. The topmost level offers a luxurious retreat with a spa, terrace bar, and library-style living area.
Throughout, the home balances elegance with comfort, seamlessly blending personal history, art, and contemporary design into a space that feels deeply lived-in and uniquely theirs.
